Lesson 5 of 6

Track 2 · Lesson 5

Translating messages from family abroad

Do you receive messages in a language you do not fully understand — from family in the Philippines, China, or elsewhere? Or do you want to send a message in their language so it feels more personal? AI translates instantly and does it warmly, not just word-for-word.

AI can translate any message in seconds — from any language to any other language. You can read what your family wrote, or write to them in their own language.

  1. Translate something you received

If someone sent you a message and you are not sure what it says, copy the message, paste it to the AI, and ask it to translate. For example: "Can you translate this into English for me?" The AI will give you the translation and can also explain anything that is unclear.

    • Can you translate this into English for me: [paste the message here]
  2. Write a message in their language

If you want to write to a family member in their language — Tagalog, Bisaya, Mandarin, Cantonese, or anything else — just write your message in English and ask the AI to translate it. It will sound natural, not robotic.

    • Can you translate this into Tagalog: [your message]
    • Can you translate this into Bisaya: [your message]
    • Can you translate this into Mandarin Chinese: [your message]
  3. Ask for help understanding the tone

Sometimes it is not just the words — it is what the message really means. If a message feels urgent or confusing, you can ask the AI to help you read between the lines.

    • Does this message sound urgent or is it casual?
    • Is there anything important I should respond to in this message?

AI translation is excellent for everyday messages. For very important documents — legal papers, medical reports, official letters — consider asking a professional translator or a trusted bilingual family member to double-check.

Always tell the AI which language you want to translate FROM and TO, especially for similar languages like Tagalog and Bisaya — they are related but different.
